Overview
TP Systems’ IT Staffing division brings experienced IT professionals together with BC based hiring organizations on a full-time and contract basis. One of our well established clients is currently seeking a Project Analyst to work out of Vancouver.
 
The Project Analyst will provide planning, financial/budgetary, analytical, scheduling, documentation and working session support for Corporate Projects.
 
Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
Assists project manager in developing project plan/schedule. Tracks project activities and anticipates and/or alerts project manager to tasks or issues that may impede or delay project schedule. Facilitates working sessions independently or with project manager, team, vendors and subject matter experts to gather and exchange pertinent project information.  Prepares and/or performs presentations, facilitates meetings or working sessions, transcribes/distributes minutes, follows up on action items with team members, revises plan and submits change requests as required.
 
Reporting
Compiles and analyzes information gathered from computerized accounting system, builds spreadsheets to report variances, expenses, capital, outlook, actual expenditures of team members, invoices and materials purchased. Provides data to project manager for weekly and monthly status reports, including budget analysis, task/milestone status and progress and reporting of decision/change requests and risks/issues.
 
Project Budgeting Support
Assists project manager in development of budget and work breakdown structure. Monitors and analyzes project budget on behalf of the project manager and team, including tracking expenses, invoices, resource hours, etc.  Reports issues and variances to the project manager and reconciles vendor invoices.
 
Contracts
Tracks contract invoices and expenses on assigned projects, reconciles invoices against contracts and projects time and values remaining.
 
Skills and Experiences
Knowledge/Technical Skills

    * of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information.
    * of corporate budgeting processes to assist in budget preparation and analysis.
    * of corporate accounting policies and procedures to assist with development of controls for corporate projects and to report financial status.
    * of computerized financial and project management systems to provide financial and scheduling support to project managers.
    * of the relevant computer systems, applications and databases to enter, edit and retrieve data and produce a variety of reports.
    * of project management concepts and principles to plan, monitor and report on project progress, issues and impacts.

 
Analytical/Problem Solving Skills

    * to understand the context of project plans in order to coordinate and participate in project activities
    * to assist with development of controls for corporate projects
    * to identify, analyze and explain variances and reconcile project expenditures and budgets
    * to gather and compile data for various project reports and presentations
    * to identify and anticipate issues and risks that may impact or delay project schedules
    * to judge the reasonableness and integrity of data

 
Communication/Interpersonal Skills

    * to establish and maintain co-operative relationships with department staff and project managers
    * to participate as a member of a team in the development and implementation of project plans
    * to provide input to project manager regarding status of project activities
    * to facilitate and/or participate in team working sessions to gather and exchange information on project requirements and deliverables
    * to explain and present technical and financial information to others in understandable terms

 
Organizational Skills

    * to track project schedule to maintain momentum and timing
    * to monitor and maintain project costs and budgets
    * to organize and compile information required to produce reports
    * to organize and facilitate project working sessions
    * to plan own priorities and adapt to changing demands and schedules

 
Education
Post secondary education in addition to courses in Project Management and a few years of experience performing financial analysis.
