DUTIES: The successful candidate:

    * Under direction, provides various administrative support duties for the Office of the Chair, his executive assistant and to the corporate secretary office for board/committee material preparation and other projects
    * Provides administrative support by preparing correspondence, reports, and presentation material; managing mail (hard copy and/or electronic); tracking deadlines and action items; answering telephone calls; referring callers to appropriate people within BC Hydro; maintaining filing of correspondence and contacts database
    * Performs a variety of other duties such as: maintaining calendar for Chair and executive assistant by scheduling and rescheduling appointments; directing incoming mail to appropriate people and ensuring responses are received back by appropriate deadline
    * Maintains a correspondance register and keeps up to date \"bring forward\" system to ensure all deadlines are met
    * Maintains files and provides back up material for all meetings including retrieval of relevant material and preparation of agendas
    * Organizes travel arrangements
    * Administers various financial functions (e.g. invoices, expense claims, purchase orders)
    * Coordinates the flow of information between the Office of the Chair and the Office of the CEO
    * Provides assistance to other administrative assistants as required
    * May be required to coordinate the information regarding freedom of information requests.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:

    * A minimum of five years experience within a corporate environment, performing a range of diverse administrative support duties involving highly confidential material
    * Strong secretarial and administrative skills
    * The ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing, in a highly professional manner with an extensive network of individuals - government officials, board members, executives, business leaders and colleagues
    * Demonstrated ability to use computer software applications such as word processing, basic spreadsheets, and presentations/graphics
    * The ability to work independently, and to make own judgments within prescribed guidelines
    * Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills
    * Fast and accurate typing skills
    * High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
